THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. CELEBRATED IN THORNTON TOWSHIP!

South Golland, IL.


The Thornton Township Human Relations and South Holland School District 205 will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during a special ceremony being held on Monday, January 18th from 10am until 1pm. The annual clebration will be held at South Suburban College's Kindig Performing Arts Center 15800 S. State Street, South Holland, IL. This event will highlight historic events from the past which are paving the way towards a brighter future. Superintendent Dr. J. Kamala Buckner will lead local students as they impart a very unique reflection of Dr. King's legacy through dramatice skits and a special presentation. Film clips will also highlight historical moments and many great speeches Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. used to awaken, encourage and unite our beautifully diverse country.

During his time, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was also an inspiration to African-American members of the U.S. Military who were discriminated against. African-American and Latino soldiers from various branches of U.S. Military will be attending the event to give a special salute to Dr. King and the brave soldiers who are currently at war. It is time to pass the torch to the next generation as we move into a new decade and further craft out the legacy of the late-great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Thornton Township Supervisor Frank M. Zuccarelli encourages residents to come out and participate in this years's events, continuing to provide a social service safety net to all seventeen municipalities that encompass Thornton Township.
