Our comprehensive services encompass a broad spectrum of programs led by trained professionals. Our dedication extends to addressing the varied needs of individuals and families, offering comprehensive family and individual counseling opportunities to township residents. For children and young adults, we provide engaging educational and social activities, including After School, Summer Enrichment, Mentoring, and more.

Services Offered

After School Program

What is the structure of the After School Program?

The program is designed for students in grades 2nd through high school seniors. Students are grouped into cohorts by age: 7-10, 10-13, and 13+. Activities are tailored to be age-appropriate within each group.

What activities are included in the program?

The program includes a variety of components such as Art, Current Events, Physical Development, Life Skills, Home Economics, and Heritage. These activities are rotated throughout the week, ensuring a well-rounded experience for all participants.

Who runs the program?

The program is overseen by a director with a master’s degree in counseling and experience in working with children with and without special needs. Site Coordinators have backgrounds in management and administration, and instructors include trained teachers and college students studying education.

Is there a cost for the program?

The program is free to Thornton Township residents. There may be additional costs associated with extracurricular trips.

Where is the program located? Is transportation provided?

The program is held at the Riverdale location of Thornton Township, 14323 S Halsted St, Riverdale, IL 60827. Transportation to the program will be provided.

What are the benefits of the program?

Benefits for students include community engagement, social skill development, homework assistance, access to resources, and adult advocacy. Parents benefit from homework help for their children, resource assistance, interventions, individual education plans, and a safe environment for their children.

How do I register my child for the program?

Parents and guardians can pre-register online and complete registration by attending a mandatory orientation with required documents: two proofs of residency, proof of school enrollment, and the child’s birth certificate.

This program provides an opportunity for 10-13-years-olds to stay active during the summer while enjoying activities that develop cultural awareness
