The Thornton Township Youth Utility Assistance Grant provides financial assistance to young individuals in Thornton Township who are struggling with housing and utility expenses. The grant offers up to $500 in aid to eligible applicants, which will be paid directly to the companies or organizations responsible for the bills or housing expenses. The program aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens that young individuals may experience when it comes to housing and utility costs, ensuring they have a safe and stable living environment.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Thornton Township Youth Utility Assistance Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be under 25 years of age
  2. Must be a resident of Thornton Township
  3. Must provide proof of residency and age
  4. Must complete and submit the application by the deadline of April 15th

Application: To apply for the Thornton Township Youth Utility Assistance Grant, please complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out and complete the application form from the Thornton Township website.
  2. Provide proof of residency in Thornton Township and proof of age (such as a driver’s license or state ID).
  3. Provide documentation of the bill or housing expense that needs assistance, such as a copy of the bill or mortgage statement.
  4. Submit the completed application and all required documentation online by April 15th.

The grant money will be paid directly to the companies or organizations responsible for the bills or housing expenses. We understand the difficulties that come with housing and utility expenses and are committed to helping young individuals in our community.

2024 Scholarship

Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany A. Henyard is proud to announce the Thornton Township Cares Scholarship. It provides a unique opportunity for at-risk youth to achieve their academic and personal goals. By supporting young people aged 16 to 24 who may face financial, social, or barriers education, the scholarship aims to promote access to experiences that can help them succeed.

As a non-discriminatory program, the scholarship welcomes applications from all young people within Thorn-ton Township, regardless of their race, gender, religion, or socio-economic background. Applicants may use the scholarship funds to pursue a wide range of educational opportunities, including summer camps, STEM pro-grams, trade schools, and college expenses.

The scholarship is named after Tiffany A. Henyard, the current Thornton Township Supervisor, who is widely recognized for her leadership and commitment to empowering young people. By providing financial assistance to those in need, the scholarship honors Ms. Henyard’s legacy of service to the community.

The scholarship amount is up to $2000, which will be paid directly to the recipient’s chosen accredited educational institution or training program. The scholarship must be used by June 3rd and recipients are encouraged to share their educational journey with the Thornton Township community through outreach events and social media.

If you are a Thornton Township, age 16-24, and are interested in furthering your education or training, we encourage you to apply for the Thornton Township Cares Scholarship. By investing in your future, we hope to help you achieve your dreams and make a positive impact in the world.

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be between the ages of 16 to 24
Must reside within Thornton Township
Must be able to provide proof of residency
Must have a clear purpose and plan for how the scholarship funds will be used towards educational experiences, summer enrichment camps, STEM programs, trade schools, or college expenses.

Fresh Produce Giveaway

Fresh Produce Giveaway

Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany A. Henyard is providing free fresh produce boxes to support families in need in the Riverdale area who live within Thornton Township boundaries. The event is taking place on February 24th, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm at the Riverdale location at 14323 S. Halsted, Riverdale, IL.

The initiative aims to improve access to healthy, locally sourced fruits and vegetables for the community, and the fresh produce boxes contain a variety of items, which may vary depending on what is in season and available at the time of the event.

Residents can receive a free fresh produce box by showing proof of residency, such as a valid ID, and bringing a bag to carry their produce home in. The event is open to Riverdale residents who live within Thornton Township boundaries.

This event is an example of Supervisor Henyard’s commitment to supporting the community, particularly those facing financial difficulties. Her efforts are commendable, and by providing fresh produce boxes to families in need, she is making a significant impact in the lives of those who require support.
